Friday, November 21, 2008 VAAA moves opening to Nov. 29
THE Visayas Athletic Amateur Association (VAAA) will hold its third season with or without the participation of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) member schools.
However, VAAA officials, led by its founer Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba, have decided to move the opening of the tournament on Nov. 29 instead of tomorrow.
The opening ceremony will also no longer be held at the Cebu Coliseum but will be in Ormoc City as two of its participants– the AMA Computer College and the Western Leyte College—are both based in Ormoc City.
This move stemmed from the sudden decision of defending champion University of the Visayas Green Lancers not to join the competition last Tuesday.
UV gave in to the demand of the Cesafi board who voted 6-1 in barring its teams from participating in the VAAA.
However, VAAA will be playing with two Cebu teams, the Asian College of Technology Cyber Knights and the Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology Skyblazers. (RCM)
