IF people around the world were to open their Christmas gifts at the same time, what a noisy world it will.
Maybe it would be enough to drown out the grumbling from Scrooge types who hate anything Christmas, including gifts; and the disgruntled harrumphing from people who only like Christmas because they expect to receive something, and when they get it, they don’t know how to appreciate small gifts given from the heart.
Yes, Mrs. Santa, there are people like that. The meanest kind of this Christmas animal is the creature who compares one gift with another.
So as not to hear the comments from these grace killers, everybody around the world get ready—one, two, three, open your gifts.
I am sure we would hear the awesome sound of wrappers being torn off, boxes being tossed away, and the united “oh, how nice” after seeing the gift.
There is a way to a person’s heart whatever the gender. It is a sure-fire solution to the problem of what to give to people.
Basing it on the premise that everybody eats, I say give a box containing food. To help you make your selections, here’s my food gift personality guide.
CHICKEN HAM. Chicken Ham Personalities like tradition, but at the same time, they want innovation. Twisting tradition a bit should come with convenience and practicality.
They want whatever they do or give to last; in this case, the ham can be stored for a week in the refrigerator.
CAKES. The Cakes Personality likes to dress up and have fun. This person is the encourager of society. He or she believes that a cake covered with icing livens up a bare table—or by extension, a colorless life—just as a word of affirmation revives someone who feels blue.
Fruitcake givers are often sold out to the notion that it is “the ideal gift to give.” Don’t be harsh. These people want richness, color and fragrance in whatever they do, and the same for the recipient. If the giver baked the cake, then it’s an honor to receive the gift. This person works hard to show love and appreciation.
MEAL CERTIFICATE. People who give meal certificates may not have much but they want people to feel they are loved. The Meal Certificate Personality always thinks of others. “First do no harm” is the motto of this person.
He or she is kind, forgiving and altruistic—just like the meal certificate, which contains good things (rice, meat, etc.). You want someone who will walk with you beyond the mile-mark? Look for the Meal Certificate chap.
SWEETS. The Sweets Personality knows that there are people who need to hear they are appreciated.
This person has no mean bone although he or she strikes others as strict. It takes time to find out that this person has nuts and raisins, too. When he or she does something it’s always done with class.
FOOD BASKET. Food Basket Personalities like to have variety in their life and want to see results. They are social-workers-at-heart when it comes to others. They want to help beyond the call of duty—even if it is not their duty to help others.
They may be serious people, but when push comes to pull, look for the Food Basket guy.
