Go leads Alta Vista Golf tourney

MANUEL Go got a net of 61 strokes to lead the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club golfers in dominating the Federation of the Philippines Senior Golfers Inc. Cebu Chapter’s 2008 Senior Golfers Christmas Fellowship Golf Tournament held last Dec. 19 at the Par 71 AVGCC golf course in Pardo this city.

The 18-handicapped Go fired 37 strokes in the front nine and 42 at the back nine for a gross of 79 strokes to win the Young Seniors category of the event.

Via countback

Alex Ngo, also of AVGCC, pocketed the first runner-up honors after firing a net of 63 and winning it via countback on the 18th hole over the 2nd runner-up finisher Celestino Rodriguez of PPGCC.

Jack Lee, also of AVGCC, also topped the Mature Seniors class with a net of 63 while fellow AVGCC players Ramon Escario copped the first runner-up title after beating Esteban Saldua via countback in the last 9 with 65.

The super seniors division was dominated by Rod Señido of AVGCC with a net of 64, beating Lorenzo Ocheda of CFIC who had 65, and Eusebio Alquizalas who had 66.

The Guest Division, meanwhile, was won by Luis Cupin of AVGCC with 71 while Cesar Sobrevega of MIGC won the first runner-up trophy with 76.

Wedged

In the Nearest to the Pin awards, Felix Villueva won Hole 2 with 8 feet and 7 inches, Manuel Go took the Hole No. 6 award with only five inches, Vicente Go won the Hole No.8 at 3 feet and four inches closer. Jonathan Yu got the Hole 13 title at 11 inches.

Ed Misa of MPGCC also used a pitching wedge to score an eagle at the 76-yards Hole No. 3. Jonathan Yu of AVGCC shad his own eagle in the 50 yards Hole 14 using a chipper. (RCM)
