Bayani clinches Southern Classic

BAYANI Garcia showed consistency on the final day to win the Boys Special Division (18-23 years old) title of the 6th Southern Junior Classic golf tournament held at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.

After firing 76 in the opening day, the Cebu Country Club ace player Garcia carded 36 on the front 9 and 36 at the back to earn 72 strokes in the final day.

Garcia hoarded 148 strokes in the 36-hole tournament sponsored by Nike, Fastpak, Cebu Country Club, Inc., and Redgolf, and Nike to beat top opponents coming from rival Del Monte Golf and Country Club.

Jolan Miñoza and Julius Bautista placed behind to complete the winners.

The distaff side title was won by Lovelyn Guio Guio of Del Monte with 150 strokes. Yoon Dan Young of Apo Golf Club placed behind with 151 strokes.

Final day clincher

Chepe Dulay of Negros Oriental Golf and Country Club, meanwhile, stole the title from first day leader Kento Nakada of Cebu Country Club as he drove 78 strokes in the final day to clinch it with 156 to win the Boys’ A Division.

Nakada, who finished with 158 strokes, won the first runner-up title via countback over Clyde Modilla of Del Monte.

Kristine Leonen of Del Monte bagged the title in the Girls side with 153 strokes, beating Abby Olea of CCC who had 156.

Angelo Jose Gandionco of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club, on the other hand, won the Boys B title with 146 strokes. Vijay Vasandani of Mactan won the first runner-up and Lloyd Jefferson Go of CCC copped the second runner-up trophy.

Girls division

Irina Gabasa of Alta Vista won the Girls title with 149 strokes, seven strokes ahead of Apple Fudolin of Del Monte.

The Boys C title was won by Martin Magrhablian of Palos Verdes with 155 strokes, leaving JJ Gamolo of Del Monte behind by nine strokes and Gen Nagai of CCC by 13 strokes.

Rachita Vasandani of Mactan won the Girls title with 176 strokes, while Pamela Mariano of Del Monte bagged the first runner-up title with 184.

The Boys D class was won by Orion Yamat of Bacolod followed by Wei Wei Gao of Alta Vista and Sabin Veloso of CCC.

The Girls title was won by Choi Sun of Apo Golf and Lois Kaye Go settled for the runner-up trophy.

Jets Sajulga of Del Monte bagged the Boys E division title with 72 strokes followed by Shaelish Vasandani of Mactan and Russel Bautista of Del Monte.

The Girls title went to Angela Pearl Mangana of Mactan with Johnnah Rianne Abella also of Mactan topping the Girls titles. (RCM)
