Monday, January 05, 2009 Knights batter SCSIT in Reunion Cup
NEWCOMER Punta Princesa Knights, with RP Blu Boys pitcher Edsel Bacarisas manning the mound, defeated Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) Blazing Batters, 15-7, to win the Reunion Cup Softball Seniors A title at the Labangon Elementary School grounds yesterday.
The lefty Bacarisas pitched for five innings and allowed only three runs in seven hits.
His pitching prowess and the collective defensive stand of the Knights were more than enough to douse cold water on the erstwhile red-hot Blazing Batters.
On offense, playing team manager and catcher Ian Empasis went 4-for-4 and team manager Sherwin Tabar and Sandy Ladisla were 3-for-3 to lead the onslaught.
SCSIT jumped hot early with RP Blu Boys infielder Roldan Bacarisas scoring the first run, off the double of Alintone Adolfo.
Adolfo then scored the second run on a pitching error.
The Knights bounced with Ladisla and Empasis scoring the first two off Tabar’s single to even the count at 2-2 at the end of the first inning.
Both teams went scoreless in the second inning before the Knights scored eight runs, capped by Alex Rollon’s homer at the bottom of the third for an 8-2 lead. (RCM)
