Thursday, January 15, 2009 Cebuano group obtains franchise of Manila-based Italian deli chain
AUTHENTIC Italian pasta at reasonable prices—this is what the Old Spaghetti House is all about.
“We are the only pasta-based restaurant (that) serves quality Italian food (that is) very affordable,” said Ruth Miranda, managing partner of Tosh Cebu Inc., the first franchisee of the Old Spaghetti House in Cebu.
Miranda, in an interview with reporters during the branch’s grand opening at SM City Cebu last Tuesday, said the restaurant only uses imported ingredients, mostly from Italy.
But even when inputs are not sourced locally, prices of the meals range from P80 to P250.
Old Spaghetti House also offers a wide range of food choices, including steaks.
“There’s a dish for everybody here,” said Miranda.
Even if the branch is the first one outside Metro Manila, Miranda said the company intends to maintain the food quality the restaurant is known for. To do this, Tosh Cebu employed six chefs from the Manila branches for the Cebu outlet.
“All the chefs are also Cebuanos so it was not hard for us to get them,” Miranda said.
In the last three weeks prior to its official opening, Mi-randa said the company received “very positive” response from its customers who are mostly foreigners.
This good feedback also encouraged the franchisee to open a second Cebu branch within the year.
Old Spaghetti House-SM City Cebu occupies a floor area of 118 square meters and has a capacity of 80 seats. The branch also has a function room that can accommodate 25 persons.
An all-Filipino brand, Old Spaghetti House has 27 branches nationwide. (DME)
