Announcer, 9 others in video karera raps By Ben O. Tesiorna
TEN people, including a radio announcer, were charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1602, otherwise known as the Anti-Illegal Gambling Act, for allegedly owning and maintaining the outlawed video "karera" machines.
An affidavit executed by PO3 Sergio Lumanas, operative of the Regional Intelligence and Investigation Division (R-2) in Catitipan Buhangin, identified the 10 as Alex Adonis, commentator of Bombo Radyo, Nelly Binanlao, reportedly the mother-in-law of Adonis, Alvin Dapire, Benito Alebuejo, Mario Juario, Arsenic Ordaneza, Cecille Tinapay, Wilfredo Liboon,
Boy Erno and Lito Tagalog.
In his affidavit, PO3 Lumanas said the police officers conducted simultaneous raids against the operators of illegal video karera machines at the vicinity of Barangay Bankerohan at around 4 p.m. of September 9.
Lumanas said that upon the order from his superior, they directly proceeded to the store-house of Binanlao and in plain view saw a video karera machine still plugged to the power outlet.
"Based on our intelligence surveillance during the course of our discreet investigation prior to, and during the raid, we learned that the said video karera machine is owned and maintained by one Alex Adonis, an employee of Bombo Radyo and son-in-law of Nelly Binanlao," Lumanas said.
The raiding team confiscated a total of seven video karera machines and peso coins amounting to P3,651.
The complaint has been filed with the City Prosecutor Office.
