City not giving electrical permits for illegal structures
THE City Engineer's Office has rejected a thousand applications for electrical permits because they are found to be dubious and are applied for by people who have put up illegal structures in the city.
City Engineer's Office Head Meinrado Metran said that one requirement in seeking an electrical permit is the existence of a building structure.
The applicant must then be able to present to authorities his or her building permit to show that has a building and thus, deserves to have an electrical permit.
"In this case, there are no buildings to speak of. Why would I reward a permit to something not existing?" he asked.
Metran said that most of the applications come from the squatters.
"If I'll approve these electrical permits, it will be the same as giving reward to squatters who put an illegal structures in this city," he added. OCE
