Louie to meet with cops, execs on city's peace, order

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Luis Bonguyan is set for conferences with the police and the department heads on the city's peace and order situation.

Bonguyan will first meet the different station commanders and Davao City Police Office personnel headed by Sr. Supt. Conrado Laza in a command conference this morning at the Grand Men Seng Hotel.

"I want to meet the police and have a clearer view of the city's peace an order drive. Just like the mayor, my main thrust as OIC of City Hall will be the fight against criminality," Bonguyan said.

Davao Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte went on leave days last Wednesday and designated Bonguyan as OIC from September 17 to October 16.

With Duterte's absence, Bonguyan will be left to maintain the city's stable peace and order situation.

"I may not be like the mayor when it comes to fighting criminality but I will do my best to keep the city safe from bad elements," Bonguyan said.

Next week, Bonguyan said he will also call for a department heads meeting to have a perspective of what the local government is doing in implementing laws and in the delivery of basic services to the people.

"I would like to know the problems facing all departments. I also would like to see to it that the delivery of basic services remains unhampered," he said.

Last Wednesday, Bonguyan visited the damaged Maa bridge where he was briefed on the status of the construction works being undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways.(Charles Raymond A. Maxey)
