Davao bows to NCR, 1-6

THE Davao City eleven bowed to title-favorite National Capital Region 1-6 in the first cross-over semifinals match Thursday of the ongoing Men's Football Championship at the Pana-ad Park and Sports Stadium in Bacolod City.

NCR advances to the finals against the winner of the other semifinal match (still being played as of press time) between Bacolod City and Dumaguete City in the bootfest organized by the Philippine Football Federation.

Davao plays the loser of that game for third place.

Davao Football Association (DFA) president Vic Sai said teams like Dumaguete which scored a 3-1 triumph against Davao earlier have paraded young players in the tournament.

"Their players are younger and quicker. It's about time we produced the same breed," said Sai when made to comment on the team's performance so far in the competition.

Sai said they are pursuing the annual students bootfest slated to open late this month to address the need for young and promising footballers who will represent the city in national tournaments.

The Davao selection is coached by veteran footballer Pops Vilela. MLS
