Meet to tackle budget, not cars: Louie By Charles Raymond A. Maxey
Acting Davao City Mayor Luis C. Bonguyan on Thursday clarified reports that he called a meeting among City Council members last Monday supposedly to discuss the forthcoming arrival of their brand new service cars.
Bonguyan admitted to have called a meeting at the Royal Mandaya Hotel but that the agenda was about the proposed P1.95 billion annual budget of the city for 2003.
"It's not true. I called the meeting because of the annual budget, which will be discussed in a special session tomorrow (Friday)," Bonguyan said Thursday.
Bonguyan, however, said discussion turned from the budget to the cars.
"The mayor offered these (cars) to the councilors," he said.
But he repeated that discussion in the meeting was anchored on the budget.
The councilor received the good news early this week when it was announced that some 24 units of Ford Ranger 4x4 pick-ups are due to arrive from Manila in the last week of December.
The new Ford Rangers will be given to the council members as promised by Duterte.
