City eyes 'Pasko Fiesta' to boost tourism

DAVAO City eyes an added boost to its tourism industry with the slated conduct of Pasko Fiesta sa Davao 2002, a mega Christmas event touted as one of the major drawer of tourists this year.

City Tourism Chief Id Acaylar said that the City is now bracing several contests for Pasko Fiesta sa Davao 2002 next week.

These contest include the Parolan sa Barangay, Belen sa Barangay, Paskuhang Kahoy sa Barangay, individual Christmas lantern making contest, Panayegon (Christmas Chorale Competition), Sayaw sa Pasko and (Christmas Dance Competition).

Acaylar added that the city government expects a major rebound in this year's tourism performance with this Christmas event.

He said has been able to earn 70 percent growth in the third quarter due to the conduct of Kadayawan festival. From January to October this year, Davao City has posted a total average hotel occupancy rate of 41.82 percent.
