More cops in metro for holidays: Rody
By Charles Raymond A. Maxey

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte has ordered increased visibility of the police force in the metropolis in time for the holiday rush.

Duterte said he had instructed the Davao City Police Office headed by Sr. Supt. Conrado Laza to maintain police visibility, especially in shopping malls.

"I want the police to be visible. They have to make rounds," Duterte said.

The mayor was emphatic in his order and he himself had been doing rounds the past days to survey the city's peace and order situation.

During the past days, people have been flocking to malls and shopping centers all over the city for the yearly holiday rush.

Security was tight since early this month as this has doubled Friday when top actors and actresses of the Philippine cinema visited Davao City for the extended coverage of the Metro Manila Film Festival.

The Royal Mandaya Hotel, the official residence of the visiting movie stars, was teeming with policemen since Thursday.

Duterte said the city couldn't afford to put its guard down with all the continued terrorist threats in the country today.

"I want a heightened alert," he said. CRAM
