Candles caused Toril fire
By Aurea A. Gerundio

UNATTENDED lighted candles were reportedly behind the fire that totally razed a residence along Kalye Santol in Toril, Davao City, Saturday night.

Toril police arson probers said the fire leveled the house of Mitter Gonzales at around 7:25 p.m.

There were lighted candles at the kitchen of Gonzales' residence that were left unattended, thus causing the accident.

The fire spread so fast to the adjacent houses but only caused partial damage, as the firefighters were quick in responding to the call for assistance.

Still, the firefighters were able to control the fire after almost an hour.

Damage was estimated to be P900,000.

There was no fatality in the incident except that a volunteer, identified as Jomar Galicia, of the Toril Volunteer Fire Brigade reportedly suffered superficial burns due to electrocution.
