City cops dared to solve killings

THE Davao City Police Office has been challenged to solve the summary killings in the City after it was awarded the best police office in the country.

Davao City Councilor Angela Librado said that while she recognized the efforts of the local police, it is but imperative for law enforcers to find solution to these criminal acts.

"Killings should not be sanctioned by anybody because they are against the law," Librado said.

"The police must now resolved these killings for them to live up to their billing as the best police in the country," she added.

Librado, a member of the Bayan Muna political group, has been lambasting the local police force for its alleged failure to solve the spate of summary executions in the city.

City Hall has been blamed for these incidents but Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte denied any involvement on the matter.

"There is no such thing as government-sponsored killings," he said.

Another councilor, Emmanuel D. Galicia, is also alarmed by the series of killings that he called on the police to intensify their campaign against loose firearms.

"It's now very alarming here in Davao because almost everyday, somebody is killed," Galicia said.
