Librado endorses Reproductive Health Bill

THE controversial House Bill 4110, otherwise known as the Reproductive Health Act, has gained the support of another local politician.

Davao City Councilor Angela Librado, who chairs the Committee on Children, Women and Family Relations, said she is endorsing the much talked about bill that is still pending in Congress.

According to Librado, HB 4110 talks on reproductive health of women.

"I am personally supportive of this act and I will endeavor to ge the support of the members of the council," she said.

Church authorities have said that the hidden message of the bill is to legalize abortion.

Archdiocese of Davao Vicar General Fr. Paul Cuison, in an earlier interview, said, "okay, so abortion is not legal, but if you undergo it, we will take care of you."

Cuison accused legislators of having hidden agenda behind the bill.

Librado, however, does not believe the bill is an abortion law. She said HB 4110 talks about how to safeguard the reproductive health of women.

She added that, "It protects the rights of women to decide on what is good for their body. And this is not about abortion." AFDulay
