Santos to face raps for smoking

"I JUST smoke. If I'm guilty of anything, I'm willing to pay the consequences."

Former Davao City mayor Luis T. Santos said this Thursday in answer to reports that City Hall is bent on filing an administrative complaint against him for violating the city's comprehensive anti-smoking ordinance.

Santos said he will face the charges once they are filed even as he called on the city government not to be "selective" in its implementation of the law.

The former DILG secretary was seen smoking inside Camp Catitipan during a Philippine National Police (PNP) Day ceremonies last week.

The act was even caught by television cameramen while Santos was talking with some officials.

Santos, however, said he does not think Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte will make him eat his cigarette as what the local chief executive declared before reporters a few days back. CRAM
