Illegally-cut lumber confiscated by cops
A TOTAL of 2,805.75 board feet of illegally-cut lumber aboard two trucks was intercepted and confiscated by government authorities in Kapalong, Davao del Norte around midnight Saturday.
One of the trucks, an Isuzu bearing plate number LVH-217 and owned by one Amador Reyes of Kapalong, was loaded with 1,483.13 board feet of dipterocarp flitches valued at P17,797.68 and driven by one Gerolo Gallenero.
The other truck bearing plate number LWB-331 and owned by SPO4 Rodolfo Garpao of the Kapalong police was loaded with a total of 1,322.62 board feet dipterocarp flitches valued at P15, 871.44 and driven by one Rotchkey Lumantas, also of Kapalong.
The trucks are now impounded at the provincial capitol site by police operatives led by PI Hernando, provincial government personnel and elements of the Kapalong police station under the supervision of P/Supt. Adani Sakkan when the drivers could not present pertinent documents.
5 nabbed in pot session
Five persons were arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as Dangerous Drugs Act, by Digos City police under Police Inspector Adriano
S. Agonia at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The arrest was made following a search operation on a private residence.
Two of the suspects were identified as Esther Doe alias Carmen Mahilum and John Doe alias Alfie Mahilum of Zamora St., Digos City.
The three other suspects caught in the act during a pot session were identified as Rey Alfie A. Mahilum, 18, single, jobless, Oliver P. Quario, 32, single, laborer and Joseph Gique, 34, married, a tricycle driver of Del Pilar, Tandang Sora St.,also in Digos.
Confiscated from them were one big sachet containing suspected shabu, two small sachets with residue believed to be shabu, and various shabu paraphernalia.
The suspects are detained at the Digos City Police Office pending the filing of appropriate charges.
Man arrested with marijuana
Elements of Police Precinct 10 arrested a man in Lanzona Village, Calinan, Davao City at about 6 a.m. yesterday for violation of RA 9165.
Arrested at his residence was one Alex C. Arando, alias Manoy, 27, of Purok 4, Lanzona Village by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Wenceslao Ibabao of the Regional Trial Court 11, Branch 33.
Seized from the suspect's house were four packs of suspected dried marijuana leaves wrapped in a newspaper and several pieces of white paper locally known as "alcoy".
The operation was witnessed by barangay Kagawad Tony Quimco of Calinan.
The suspect is temporarily detained at Police Precinct 10 along with the recovered items, which will be subjected to examination by the PNP Crime Lab Services 11. RCB
