Rody no say on pullout of AFP from Pikit: Avisado
By John Dave G. Vergara

THE proposed Hashim Samalat-Rody Duterte dialogue will have a hard time materializing since both parties premise it on two major demands.

The MILF demands the unconditional withdrawal of military troops from the
wartorn Buliok Complex in Pikit, while Duterte wants the MILF to surrender the Davao International Aiport (DIA) bomber last March 4.

City Hall spokesman Wendel Avisado said Sunday that the demand of Salamat is next to impossible since the pullout of troops from Buliok is not for the mayor to decide.

The supposed talk came from the letter sent by Hashim Salamat through counsel Macapanton Abbas, which was read during the 1st Mindanao Muslim Leaders Forum held last Tuesday at the Waterfront Insular Hotel.

The letter signified Salamat's willingness to have a dialogue with Mayor Duterte.

Avisado said that only the national government and the Department of Defense have the authority over such decision.

On the other hand, Duterte, according to Avisado, is steadfast in his decision that without the surrender of the DIA bombers there will be no dialogue with the MILF chairman.

The multiple murder and multiple attempted murder cases against the MILF leaders are now taking shape before RTC Branch 12.

Avisado said that Duterte's demand is based on the investigations conducted by joint efforts of the PNP and the AFP giving weight to the MILF's involvement in the DIA bombing.
