Eaga turns 9 on March 24
THE Mindanao Economic Development Council (Medco) is leading the Philippines preparations for the celebration of the ninth anniversary of the Brunei, Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines East Asean Growth Area (Bimp-Eaga) on March 24 and 25.
Medco chairman Jesus G. Dureza said his agency has been tasked to lead government preparations for appropriate ceremonies in Mindanao and Palawan, two of the economic sub-region's focus areas.
He said a series of activities has been scheduled to enhance public awareness on various development and opportunities brought about by BIMP-Eaga. These include information exhibits and briefings for audiences such as students, businesspersons, government employees and interest groups.
An Eaga info exhibit will open at the SM City Davao on March 23 at 3 p.m.
Dureza said the Eaga celebration is anchored on the national government's recognition of the role of sub-regional economic cooperation in the development of Mindanao and Palawan as a key development strategy.
