4th Muslim abducted, freed
By Ben O. Tesiorna

ANOTHER Muslim was abducted by six unidentified armed men along R. Castillo Street in Agdao, Davao City, Tuesday morning.

The victim, who was identified as Muslimen Maro, 38, a Maranao and resident of Mini-Forest, Boulevard, was freed in the afternoon of the same day.

Relatives of the victim said Maro sent a text message to his friend, Ali Sultan, around 9:30 Tuesday claiming that he was "arrested" by unidentified armed men and was being questioned over the Davao bombings.

Sultan said he texted Maro back asking him of his whereabouts but the victim did not reply. When he tried calling Maro's cellular phone, it was already turned off.

Ustadz Alim Adilao, uncle of Maro's wife, said the victim is God-fearing and a good husband. He said Maro is a Tabligh, a Muslim missionary and earns his income by selling various wares and goods.

It was learned that Maro's wife, Inoray, had just given birth to their child and is still recuperating at the hospital.

Maro's relatives added they do not know any enemy of Maro who might have abducted him and feared that he could be the fourth victim of the series of abductions perpetrated against Muslims after the bombings that rocked the city on March 4 and April 2.

They immediately reported the incident to Davao City Police Office director Sr. Supt. Conrado Laza who in turn ordered the Sta. Ana Police to investigate the incident.

Maro is the fourth Muslim to be abducted since the bombing of Sasa wharf, which killed 16 people and injured 55 others.

Last April 3, Datu Sabdurah Ala of Ma-a Riverside was also abducted by armed men aboard a van and on April 6 Ustadz Alimudin Zulkifle of Sirawan was abducted in Inawayan, Sta. Cruz.

Lajmar Jumdail, on the other hand, was said to be abducted by Armalite-wielding men in R. Castillo, Agdao at around 4 p.m. of April 10.
