1 dead, houses burned in Bukidnon raid by MILF

A SEXAGENARIAN was killed while several houses were burned by suspected Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) members in Bukidnon last week. More than 40 MILF men under one Alih Sampu reportedly attacked Barangay Anggaan in Damulog, Bukidnon last April 18, around 7 a.m.

Seven houses and a rice and corn mill were reportedly burned while 61-year-old Bonifacio Danon of Sitio Tukod was shot to death by the rebels who also took with them two carabaos and a horse.

A platoon from the 8th Infantry Battalion under one 2Lt. Araya pursued the rebels but were met with sniper fire in Barangay Kitingkiting resulting in a 10-minute firefight.

The rebels withdrew in a southwest direction bringing along their loot. No casualties were reported on the government side. BOT/PA
