Barte to play for DC team By Marianne L. Saberon
RP JUNIORS team member and internationalist Ralph Kevin Barte will reunite with his fellow Dabawenyos in the Philta Classic Age-Group Championships which unfolds at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex tennis center in Malate, Manila Monday.
Philippine Tennis Association regional vice-president Juanito Cansino Jr. said Barte will play for Davao City.
"It's good to have him in the team," Cansino said.
Cansino, who arrived in Manila with 22 netters from Mindanao Saturday, said the Manila-based Barte is set to represent the country in the World Youth Cup in Melbourne, Australia on May 16.
Barte, a former Rizal Memorial Colleges mainstay, won two gold medals for Davao City in the second Philippine National Youth Games-Batang Pinoy Championships and another gold in the 2002 Palarong Pambansa.
Barte will be joined by Dabawenyos Mark Anthony Alcoseba and Michael Mesa, along with siblings Andrei and Steffi Dizon in the netfest slated May 5 to 11.
Mindanaoans Patrick Lim Solis (M'lang, North Cotabato), Robert and Giselle Ortellano (Maramag), Macapendeg brothers (Cotabato City), Alyssa Callejo (Alamada); Patricia Adaza, Macy Serrano, James Patrick Pang, Alexis Lapaz and Vic John Amerkhan (Mati, Davao Oriental); Efren Macasinag, Ryan Bendijo and Camille Zapatos (Davao del Sur); Franz Bonilla and Yonellie Mainar (Bansalan) are also entered in the tournament.
It features 10-under unisex, boys and girls 12-under, 14-under, 16-under and 18-under divisions.
