TF Davao to stay -- Pangilinan

THE Task Force Davao (TFD) will not be assigned here forever but they will stay until their task is completed, TFD Chief Colonel Gaudencio Pangilinan said during the Kapehan sa Davao at the PIA Monday morning.

"We are here to serve the people of Davao. Our main task is to lower the atrocities in the city. We are going to do that as quickly as we could," Pangilinan said.

"In all our orientations, we often tell people that we will not be here forever," Pangilinan said.

Pangilinan appealed to the people to remain alert and vigilant.

"We don't want anyone to be hurt, we will try to protect you as best we can, and together, we can defeat these terrorists with our vigilance," Pangilinan added.

Meanwhile, City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta is not opposed to the staying of the TFD.

"This is a welcome development in Davao because maganda naman ang objective ng Task Force. They are a composite group. They are selected at may kanya-kanyang expertise ang bawat member ng Task Force," Acosta said.

She added that if the objective is for the security and welfare of the Dabawenyos, and if the TFD is the one given the responsibility, then we should support them.

"Makikita naman natin ang track record nila and it has a good purpose, so why should we oppose it?" she asked.

Acosta however said that the stay of the TFD would depend on how well they address the terrorist threat. She said that if there is no longer the threat and fear of danger, then the presence of the T. She said that if there is no longer the threat and fear of danger, then the presence of the TFD will be pulled out from the city. RCB
