Duterte race reset July 6
THE 2003 Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte Invitational Circuit Race was reset from June 29 to July 6, Philippine Amateur Cycling Association (Paca) Regional Director Salvador Paholio Jr. announced Monday.
Salvador said the rescheduling of the Duterte bikefest was to give way to the second Habagat Challenge in Digos City.
The decision was made after the meeting between Paca 11 officials and the Federation of Off-Road and Cycling Enthusiasts (Force) headed by Officer-in-Charge Jun Antipasado.
"We also decided to work together for the development of our riders in Region 11, particularly, in Davao City without any political intervention," Paholio said.
The city's participation to the third Mindanao Friendship Games slated October 19 to 24 in Mati, Davao Oriental was also discussed during the meeting attended by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) City Coordinator Jun Gutierrez.
The second Habagat event is sanctioned by Paca, while the Duterte race is supported by Force.
Meanwhile, the Duterte cycling event features the open amateur (eight laps with 13 kilometers per lap) and executive amateur categories (three laps).
Cash prizes of P5,000, P4,000, P3,000, P2,000, P1,000 will be given to the top five finishers, respectively, in the open amateur while the next 10 finishers get P300 each.
The executive champion will take home P1,500 while the runner-up will receive P1,000 and P500 for third-placer.
The next 10 finishers will each pocket P200 in the bikefest organized by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office. MLS
