WHILE the seniors' category exceeded 49 entries, more slots are still available for the women, midgets and juniors divisions of the Adidas Streetball Challenge Davao City eliminations, which kicks off June 27 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.

Organizers said 89 teams submitted entries in the seniors' event, which had been limited to only 40 teams.

"Manila will have to screen these seniors teams and decide which teams can play. But teams that are representing their schools will be prioritized then those coming from the barangays," local coordinator Victorio Sai said.

Twelve more teams are needed in the juniors' category, 16 in women's side and 12 more in midgets.

Sai said 27 juniors teams and four women teams already registered for the two-day competition where champions will advance to the All-Mindanao Finals slated June 29.

Davao bets will be pitted against Zamboanga City and Cagayan de Oro elimination champions for national finals berths.

Sai said he is optimistic that target of entries in three categories will be realized on June 20 which is the deadline of registration.

A press conference will be set for the annual tournament. MLS
