Tranco eyes merger with cycling body
By Marianne L. Saberon

THE Tour Racer of Agusan del Norte Cycling Organization (Tranco) is seeking to become an affiliate of the Philippine Amateur Cycling Association (Paca).

Paca regional director Salvador "Jun" Paholio Jr. said Tranco signified its intention to merge with the group through a letter submitted to him recently.

Paholio, acting on the request, is set to endorse Tranco's application letter to Paca Manila office for immediate action.

He said Tranco's organizational structure is complete with its new set of officers.

Engr. Ryan Ruiz is Tranco president, while Juanito Rom is the vice-president. Andres Genon serves a dual role of a secretary and treasurer.

Joselito Patayan is auditor, while Calixto Laurente is the P.R.O.

The board of directors is composed of Marcon Chu, Anulfo Nazareno, Ernesto Sagareno, Rudy Condar, Virgilio Durain, Fernando Galapin, Alfredo Romero, Ricardo Arnaiz and Dennis Baring.

Meanwhile, Paca is sanctioning the second Habagatan Race Gov. Bautista Cup 2003 Open Cross Country Mountain Bike competition in Digos City this Sunday.

Close to 300 riders are expected to vie for honors in the open expert, junsen, executive, veterans, beginners and ladies divisions.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers of the six categories, while medals will go to the fourth to 10th placers and recreational touring placers.

The race is organized by the Digos Off-Road Bikers Association (Dorba) in coordination with the Federation of Off-Road and Cycling Enthusiasts.
