Realty firm denies illegal operation in Igacos
"WE ARE a company duly registered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) engaged only in brokerage or sale of private property mostly located in the Island Garden City of Samal (Igacos)."
This was the clarification of Afrodicio Garcia, owner-president of First Davao Millenium Property Venture (FDM), as he vehemently denied news reports that his firm is engaged in developing subdivisions.
Garcia said FDM is helping private landowners sell their raw lands, as well as assist families planning to settle in the island and individuals and entities wanting to establish business in the area acquire properties through legal means.
Garcia reacted to published allegations of Igacos City Administrator Cleto Gales that there are 50 illegal subdivisions in the island. FDM covered the biggest chunk of the 300 hectares of private property reportedly sold to individuals wanting to settle in Igacos.
As a native-born, Garcia said there's no better way for him to help his fellow Samaleņos fulfill a dream of seeing Samal attain progress than through a legitimate company acting as a "go-between" among landowners and buyers of properties in Davao and Igacos.
He also quoted lawyer John Paul Devilleres, register of deeds for Samal and Davao del Norte, as having affirmed that titles sold in Samal are genuine and not fake as earlier reported. Devilleres issued the statement during a July 29 dialogue initiated by Igacos Councilor Charles C. Ligan.
The gathering was attended by officials of the Housing Urban Regulatory Board (HLURB), Igacos Legal Counsel IV Gay Asuncion Enumerables, real estate brokers operating in Samal and representatives of other government agencies.
Garcia however did not discount the existence of a few scam developers, who misrepresent amenities and benefits in their sales presentation.
FDM wants to be a "partner for progress of the City Government" by helping future residents acquire lots until such time that the owners will have the means to construct their buildings, Garcia said as he assured clients of the good reputation that his company has enjoyed for years now. AMA
