Nature's wonders at Malagos Garden
By Ana Felicia Dulay

WITH just a 45-minute ride from downtown area, the sprawling landscape of Malagos Garden Resort awaits nature lovers.

Situated up in Baguio District, the resort is cornucopia of flora and fauna, home to some of the endangered species.

The inland resort showcases magnificent flowering plants, orchids, exotic ducks, birds and butterflies.

As a tourist destination, it resort has overnight rooms and cottages, function and seminar halls, restaurants and coffee shops, bar and game room and a business center facility.

The landscaped garden boasts of a bird park, the reputed butterfly sanctuary, orchid garden and the swimming pool. Fresh fruits and mushroom dishes are served at the restaurant area.

Last Sunday, Malagos Garden Resorts celebrated its 6th anniversary. The resort is owned by the same family that is responsible for propagating Davao City as the orchid capital in South East Asia, the Puentespina Orchid Garden Center in Agdao, Davao City.

Kids had the best time during the interactive Bird Show where parrots and raptors flew around the tent much to the squeals and applause of the audience.

The show was a product of painstaking efforts of Dr. Bo Puentespina, who taught tricks to the birds designed for education.

There are at least 10 species totaling 75 birds performing individually or in a group.

Waling-Waling Conservation is a continuous effort at the Malagos Garden Resort, called "ex situ" conservation.

The program entails providing certain species, in this case the waling-waling, a natural habitat and sanctuary where it will thrive and flourish.

"Each orchid that we nurture to flower and seed is an assurance of the next generation," the management said.

Visit the Malagos Garden Resort and experience being one with nature.
