A MUNICIPAL councilor, an ABC president of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, and their policeman escort were ambushed by unidentified armed men at Barangay Magdog on Monday afternoon. All survived.

The victims were identified as Councilor Basser Musa, ABC President Jalal Musa, and PO3 Robert Cadungog of Governor Generoso municipal police office, who were allegedly ambushed by members of New People's Army (NPA).

Based on police investigation, the victims were onboard a Nissan pick-up with plate number LCX-836, that was driven by alias Bobong, and heading toward Barangay Tagbebe, Governor Generoso around 4 p.m. on Monday.

As the vehicle turned around toward sitio Makaling at Barangay Magdog, unidentified armed men fired at them.

Police authorities from Governor Generoso led by Insp. Benjamin Lopez Jr., immediately rushed to the scene, but the gunmen have already fled.

Joint elements of military and police authorities are now conducting a hot pursuit operation against the suspects allegedly members of the rebel group and investigating the possible motive of the incident. GPP/RCO
