Partying in long gowns

IN THE normal course of things, the seventh and last day of the week for students of law would mean exams day. It was a different case for Lakas Atenista (LA) members and applicants, though.

The Annual LA Ball was held 6 p.m. last August 23 at the Royal Mandaya
Hotel. The event was, as is the custom, observed to welcome new members into the organization and attended by both resident LA lawyers and students.

Rina Sacdalan and Vince Lagura hosted the evening's ceremony. It was set in motion by the introduction of the guests, who graced the night with their presence.

LA president for year 2002-2003 Paul Ryan Ongkingko gladly and cordially acknowledged the gathering in the room before inviting everyone to partake in the sumptuous banquet.

The suitable endings to a menu, JB Myrrh Sta. Romana and Mimilyn Nahial-Chan enthralled the party with their singing prowess.

The affair saw the induction of new members and newly elected officers of Lakas Atenista.

The new officers, formally sworn by lawyer Franklin Ladores, are Jason John Joyce (president), Vince Lagura (vice president), JB Sta. Romana (secretary), Dinah Rose Bala (treasurer), Rhyan Paņales (assistant treasurer) and Ryan Locsin (PIO).

This was followed by the entertaining and heartwarming speech of the current LA president and the unveiling of the LA slogan.

The guest speaker, Atty. Vincent Paul Montejo, generously yielded in his speech a touch of his sagacity.

The night was jam-packed with talent shows presented by the new members, the awarding of LA Honor Students, the revelation of the results of the LA Poll that consisted of intriguing criteria and the crowning of Lord and Lady of the Night.
