TFD chief as next city mayor?

HAS Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte finally found a protégé that would replace him as the next mayor?

This question cropped up when Duterte said that Task Force Davao commander Col. Gaudencio Pangilinan has the makings of an effective mayor.

In his television program "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa", Duterte said Pangilinan could become a good mayor for Davao City considering his credentials and accomplishments.

He made the pronouncement after co-host Tina Junsay asked him how long TF Davao would stay in the city.

"Hanggang sa pagtanda na nila, si Pangilinan nga (Until they become old, Pangilinan) is planning to run for mayor. He can become one but he needs to reform first his military ways," Duterte told Junsay.

"I'm just kidding though," the mayor was quick to add.

When asked of his reaction to the mayor's statement, Pangilinan simply answered that Duterte is just kidding.

It can be recalled that Duterte said he is on the look out for an individual who would replace him once he retires from politics.

The mayor said he wanted his replacement to be a man of action just like him and with an iron will and of strong resolve. BOT
