THE Kapisanan ng Brodkasters ng Pilipinas (KBP) Chairman's Cup Golf Tournament is slated September 20 and 21 at the Apo Golf and Country Club.

KBP spokesperson Roy Geonzon said Thursday that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte and KBP president Cerge Remonde of Cebu City are expected to lead the ceremonial tee-off during the opening rites.

"We are expecting around 500 golfers from Davao, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro and nearby cities and provinces in the tournament," said Geonzon, who guested Thursday at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn.

Geonzon said they are pursuing the project despite the gruesome killing of KBP active member and former city councilor Juan Porras "Jun" Pala.

He added: "This activity was planned even before Pala's death. We are pursuing this program to fund our projects such as holding seminars for our members."

Attractive hole-in-one prizes for all par 3s are at stake in the golfest, including air-conditioned units, a National Panasonic 21-inch color TV.

The tournament is part of the Broadcasters Week celebration. MLS
