Eddie G: a year older
(Birthday bash with a statement)
VISAYAS-Mindanao retail giant Eddie Gaisano turned a year older Friday. But it was a birthday fête like no other; It was a celebration with a statement.
Days before and after his birth anniversary, Eddie, whose family owns Gaisano South Davao along Ilustre Street and close to 20 other malls in the Visayas and Mindanao area, brought his loved ones, close friends and trusted business associates of 30, 40 and 45 years to Davao City.
It was the first time he ever celebrated a birthday in Davao and a close confidant told Chillout it was Eddie's way of making a significant, albeit silent statement, of his confidence in the city's investment climate and security situation.
Chillout shares pictures taken by Sun.Star Davao photo editor Rene B. Lumawag of friends, business associates and employees who serenaded Eddie midnight of Friday in the presidential suite of the family-owned Grand Regal Hotel. On hand to entertain his well-wishers were his beauteous wife Judy, son Henry II and daughters Valerie and Ida. (Edmund Jr. who's still studying, flew in from Cebu last night to catch up with the main bash for papa's birthday).
Among the well-wishers were longtime business co-investors Antonio Lim and wife Kate, Messrs. Lim Men Sing and Chu Sue Sing of Taiwan, Robert Go, Youngward Tan and James Lu.
The other serenaders included former city councilor Robert Allan Limso, businessmen Rydy Ong and Steven Cases, officers of the Casino Filipino Davao headed by Babes Cabebe and Beng Go, Bong Roxas, Elde Bontin and Tandit Suzara. Edmund Jr. was experted to fly in with Mrs. Gina Gaisano, wife of Eddie's brother Benito, and many other relatives.
