Rody to join trade mission
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to join trade officials and personalities for a trade mission in Taiwan next week.

In his television program "Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa" Sunday, Duterte said he initially did not want to join the trade mission but was compelled to after Tai-Chung's Mayor Jason Hu requested for his presence.

"No mayor, no dinner daw e sabi ng communiqué‚ na pinadala sa amin so muadto
na lang gyud ko (The communiqué stated that no mayor, no dinner, so I'm going)," Duterte said.

He, however, clarified that his presence was requested not because he is Duterte but because he is the mayor of the city.

He said some Taiwanese businessmen, who wanted to put up businesses here in Davao City, wanted his assurance that their businesses will be protected once they invest here.

Reports said around 25 businessmen in the region will be joining Duterte along with some officials of the Department of Trade and Industry 7 for a sisterhood city pact with Tai-Chung.
