Cop tormentor sued By Raquel C. Bagnol
FOR allegedly punching a policeman who was about to arrest him, a 43-year-old man is formally charged before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) for direct assault.
Prosecutor Samuel T. Atencia recommended the filing of charges against Betcher Baluran, of Daliao, Toril, Davao City for allegedly punching SPO3 Romeo Bentolan of Toril Police precinct.
Court records show at around 6:50 a.m. on October 4, Bentolan went to St. Jude in Daliao to answer a call for assistance from one Candido Baluran because his son, Betcher went berserk.
Upon reaching the area, Betcher was nowhere to be found so he decided to return to the police station.
As Bentolan and his driver boarded the mobile car, Betcher emerged from behind the house and allegedly threw stones at the mobile car, breaking the windshield and causing damages worth P2,000.
When Bentolan alighted to arrest the suspect, Betcher allegedly punched him in the chest.
Betcher was later pacified and taken to the Toril police station.
