Karapatan readies suit v. cops in Maco 4
By Aurea A. Gerundio

THE militant group Karapatan-Davao will meet with their lawyers Thursday for the filing of criminal charges against the suspects of the Maco massacre before the Office of the Ombudsman.

Karapatan secretary general Ariel Casilao said they continue gathering pieces of evidence to support the pending case.

"Ang checkpoint area ng 1101st battalion ng police is less than 50 meters from where the four slain youth leaders were reported abducted. Imposible kaayo nga wa gyud sila makahibalo ug niresponde dayon (It was impossible they were not aware of the kidnapping)," Casilao said.

Earlier, the Merardo Arce Command of the New People's Army identified three of the five alleged abductors of the youths. They are Capt. Mamaril, leader of the military's Intelligence Security Unit (ISU) team operating in Tagum City; 1st Sgt. Roy Telang, and an ISU operative named Adan Marcus.

Casilao said Karapatan is also trying to find out whether or there was collaboration between the police and perpetrators in relation to the massacre.

"We will also go with the CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) on an ocular visit at the area," Casilao said.
