Ombud files suit v. barangay chief

* Barangay chief accused of slapping a man due to a traffic violation
FOR slapping a man accused of having violated traffic rules, the Office of the Ombudsman for Mindanao has recommended the filing of charges before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities against a barangay chief.
Charged for slight physical injuries based on a resolution penned by Graft Investigation Officer 11 Joy Rubillar-Arao dated September 24 is Rene Gatchalian, barangay chief of Barangay 8-A, Father Selga Street Davao City.
According to the complaint filed before the city prosecutor's office by Diosdado R. Encarnado of Matina, Gravahan, Davao city, he was driving along Fr. Selga Street in Davao City at around 5 p.m. of September 12 when he committed a traffic infraction.
Gatchalian, who witnessed what happened, slapped him on the left cheek.
No preliminary investigation was necessary in the case because this is covered by the Revised Rules on Summary Procedures.
