DCPAG man faces gun-toting charge
* Also possibly grave threats for poking a gun and squeezing trigger at
civilian
A MAN believed to be a member of the Davao City Police Auxiliary Group
(DCPAG) is in trouble for allegedly pointing his gun at a civilian,
Saturday dawn.
Facing possible charges of grave threats and illegal possession of firearms is one Bernardo Cani, 52, trisikad driver of Barangay Lapu-lapu in Agdao, this city.
Cani was accused by one Reynante Salas, 28 of Barangay Jerome, Agdao of grave threats by pointing and squeezing the trigger of his gun at him.
Luckily, Salas said, Cani's .38 caliber revolver did not fire.
The complainant said they were walking along Jerome Extension around
12:30 a.m. along with three others when they met Cani.
Salas said his companion called Cani but for unknown reasons the suspect allegedly got angry. He said hat a few minutes later the suspect went back along with two other unidentified companions bringing knives and harassed them.
Salas said they scampered for safety and reported the incident to the Jerome police outpost. When accosted by the police, Cani allegedly pulled out his gun and aimed the same at Salas and fired it. The gun, however, did not go off.
Bystanders in the area then mauled the suspect who attempted to run away from the authorities.
Recovered from Cani was a .38 revolver with six live bullets and a memorandum receipt (MR) that expired last August 1999.
Police investigators suspected Cani to be a DCPAG member because of the expired MR that was taken from his possession.
After being treated at the Davao Medical Center the suspect is now at the Sta. Ana detention cell.
