Reporma might support GMA in 2004 polls: Sebastian
By Ben O. Tesiorna

DESPITE its recent decision to bolt from the People's Power Coalition (PPC), the Reporma party might still support President Arroyo in her bid to run for the presidency in the 2004 elections.

In a telephone interview Sunday evening, Reporma president Roberto Sebastian clarified that Reporma's bolting from PPC does not necessarily mean they no longer have confidence in Arroyo.

Sebastian said their reason for abdicating from the coalition is because they consider PPC to be "already non-existent".

"For us, PPC is already dead," he said.

Sebastian added that Reporma is not supporting Vice President Teofisto Guingona, contrary to public perception.

"What we are looking for is a principled leadership. A leader that will not steal, cheat and lie," he said.

When asked who among the presidential aspirants he thinks are qualified to run for president, Sebastian named Arroyo, Raul Roco and businessman Danding Cojuangco.

Sebastian said they will hold a national executive meeting this first week of November to determine who the Reporma party will support.

Reporma has about 500 elected member officials all over the country making the party still a force to reckon with.
