Duterte hosts party for Davao contingent

THREE function rooms at the Grand Men Seng Hotel are set up as Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte hosts a victory party Tuesday for the Davao City contingent that defended the 3rd Mindanao Games crown in Mati, Davao Oriental recently.

Sports action officer Kiking Quimpan earlier said the function rooms would accommodate some 500 delegates including the differently-abled athletes in the luncheon party.

"The activity will start from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.," said Quimpan who guested in the DSA sports forum last week.

Duterte's special assistant, Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go, said Monday the victory party is for all the athletes, coaches and officials of the Davao delegation.

Go added, "Mayor Duterte will then announce the incentives for the medallists."

Early reports that cash incentives of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 will be awarded to gold, silver and bronze medallists have yet to be confirmed by Duterte.

The local chief executive promised to give the "usual incentives" to medallists during the opening rites of the third edition of the PGMA Sports for Peace Program for Mindanaoans.

Davao City collected a total 70 golds, 64 silvers and 47 bronzes based on results released by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) records and documentation committee.

But actual medals received by Davao athletes showed there are more medals unaccounted for. MLS
