DOTC soon to submit DIA's as-built plan
By Christie Enriquez-Uayan

PROJECT implementation unit head Rodolfo Laguna of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) 11 said Thursday they will soon submit the as-built plan required by the City Engineer's Office (CEO) to obtain the final certificate of occupancy and operation for the new Davao International Airport (DIA).

DOTC 11 was only granted a partial certificate of occupancy and operation of the DIA because they have yet to submit the as-built plan of the airport.

"We are targeting to complete the requirements on the third week. During construction, we altered something so we have to submit a new as-built plan with the changes in the structure," Laguna said.

In an earlier interview, City Engineer Meinrado Metran explained it is a normal procedure for the CEO to issue a partial permit for newly built structures.

The partial occupancy and operation was issued to the DoTC 11 by the CEO on November 28.

Metran earlier said DOTC should submit recommendations to the CEO, stating that the different equipment installed at the new DIA are operating well.

"This does not mean that since the issued certificate of occupancy and operation is partial, the structure is questionable. The facilities need to be tested, and only when a report is submitted to DOTC stating that the facilities are okay, will the CEO issue the final certificate of occupancy and operation," Metran explained.

He said CEO will also conduct its own inspection at the new DIA after DOTC
will submit its recommendations.
