P1.08B AIP ok'd on second reading By Christie Enriquez-Uayan
VARIOUS infrastructure and non-infra projects totaling P1.083 billion were approved on second reading Tuesday by the City Council, Councilor Peter Laviņa informed Wednesday.
The projects, which include a P977 million budget for infra and P106 million for non-infra projects are all listed under the proposed Annual Implementing Plan (AIP) of the city for 2004.
Laviņa, however, clarified that not all of the proposed projects enumerated
under the AIP will be funded by the City next year.
"Only about P200 million will be included in the Annual Development Fund (ADF), which represents only about 20 percent of the annual budget. The AIP is only a shopping list of proposed projects that will be funded by the local government," he explained.
The City councilor, however, did not divulge which proposed items in the AIP were included in the ADF. Bridges worth P25.7 million, buildings worth P177.4 million, additional drainage systems totalling P94 million are among the proposed infra projects lined up in the AIP.
The list also contains the P56.2 allotment for electrification, roads and pathways costing P531.6 million, and water system amounting P92 million.
Non-infra projects, meanwhile, include the P75.2 million social development fund, P23.6 million economic developement budget, and the P7.2 million allocation for development administration.
Laviņa said the City Council will fast track the approval of the 2004 budget by conducting a special session tentatively scheduled on Friday.
Laviņa assured that the budget will be approved this month. He said City's proposed budget for 2004 is about P1.9 billion, excluding supplemental budgets.
