PAF flies high
THE Philippine Air Force (PAF) bounced back from its opening-game loss to trample Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), 99-82, Thursday night in the 2003 AFP-PNP Olympics basketball tournament at the Bankerohan covered court.
The Paf cagers were subdued by the National Security Unit, 75-79, in the cagefest organized by the city government of Davao as part of the "Pahalipay ni Mayor sa Pasko" program.
In other games, the PCTC-National Support Unit entered the winning column by sinking the Philippine Navy, 102-88.
Former Montaņa Pawnshop mainstay Hercules Arellano sizzled with two perimeter baskets and made 11 more points to lead his team's searing rally in the final canto for the win.
Arellano totalled 24 points while teammates Roberto Jaca and Rommel Bactat canned 28 and 26 markers, respectively, to lift the rousing campaign and give the Navymen their second straight loss.
The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) nipped the 73rd Infantry Battalion, 96-93, while Davao City Police Office (DCPO) humbled Task Force Davao, 85-72.
Ramir Faustino topscored with 27 points and Arnold Pacino added 19 points.
The Air Force and Navymen will clash against each other at 4 p.m. Saturday
while the City Mayor's Office takes on the 73rd IB at 5:30 p.m.
The PNP Regional Mobile Group collides with the BFP at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. main encounter between the BJMP and DCPO.
