Dipolog blanks Comval in Mindanao Coke Go Finals
By Marianne L. Saberon

VINCENT Gamguina sizzled hot as Andres Bonifacio College of Dipolog blanked Maco National High School of Compostela Valley 3-0 in the opening match of the All-Mindanao Coke Go-for-Goal Finals at the Tionko Football Grounds, Agro-Industrial Foundation College compound Tuesday.

Gamguina blasted the first goal in the 29th minute, followed by Marlo Maglangit's goal in the 39th. Then, Gamguina knocked in his second goal in the 71st to finally wrap up the match.

Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president, lawyer Rene Adad, formally opened the bootfest for under-16 players. He was joined by city councilor Leonardo Avila III, Tommy I¤igo and host Davao Football Association (DFA) president Albert Pingoy during the brief opening rites.

Davao City champion Emar Learning Center was still playing against San Lorenzo Ruiz Academy of South Cotabato in the six-team tournament as of presstime.

Slots to the national finals are at stake for the top two teams in the five-day meet.

Philippine Sports Commissioner William "Butch" Ramirez is set to turn over football boots to DFA officials, while DFA board member Emil Hager will turn over footballs he solicited from the FIFA headquarters in Switzerland.
