Lee: The reason for Christmas
By Kelvin King Lee
Babble On

"Let us remember that Christmas was not about the gifts, the parties or the food or the wine. It was about the arrival of someone special. The birth of a little baby boy in a manger, in a land far away countless years ago, the son of a carpenter and of a virgin mother. The miracle of miracles."

YEP. It's that time of the year again. When people start smiling, gifts start getting passed around, fruitcakes and candles are fobbed off, parties are aplenty, the liquor keeps flowing, the nights are cold, Christmas carols are heard everywhere and people are happy, even though it has generally been a rough year, but let's not get into that for once.

It's Christmas and the seasonal revelry has started to hit high gear, with parties almost every night, where the food seems limitless, the joy infectious and the gifts keep on coming. But amidst all this fun and laughter, all this party-style chaos, booze-ups and the holiday pleasures, let's not forget the reason why we are celebrating.

Let us remember that Christmas was not about the gifts, the parties or the food or the wine. It was about the arrival of someone special. The birth of a little baby boy in a manger, in a land far away countless years ago, the son of a carpenter and of a virgin mother. The miracle of miracles.

Let us not forget that Christmas was about this special little baby who changed the world and should always be remembered in our hearts.

And so it is with this in mind that I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

At a Cebu Pacific press conference last week I ran into Debbie Uy of the Mindanao Insider, Edith Regalado of the Philippine Star and Eddie Bangayan, renowned businessman.

The press conference was about an E-ticketing system, which Cebu Pacific implemented for the airline. Under this system, once a customer books passage, he won't need a paper ticket anymore but can simply show his identification to get on his flight.

Ms. Regalado had some questions about the E-ticketing process during the presscon while Mr. Bangayan had some insights on it and was happy to elaborate, with help from some Cebu Pacific representatives. Debbie Uy, whom I first met in Beijing several years ago, was lucky enough to win a roundtrip ticket from the airline.

I have yet to try this E-ticketing system, but if it works out, I know it will definitely give me less hassles when I travel. I've lost track of the number of times I've almost missed a flight because I forgot my ticket at my apartment, lost it or accidentally packed it into my luggage. Once I even tore up a still valid ticket simply because I thought it was already used.

This E-ticketing thing is definitely a boon to forgetful travelers like me, who always seem to have something happen to their tickets.
