Compostela Valley reaps awards
THE Maco National High School of Compostela Valley (Comval) reaped awards in the just-concluded All-Mindanao Coke Go-for-Goal Finals at the Tionko Football Grounds in Agro-Industrial Foundation College compound Sunday.
Comval nipped Dipolog City 2-1 for the crown as Jervie Paalan and Adel Salido clinched the Most Valuable Player and best Goalie titles, respectively.
Comval and Dipolog will advance to the National Championships next year in the annual bootfest organized by the Philippine Football Federation.
South Cotabato, bannered by San Lorenzo Ruiz Academy players, crushed the Emar Learning Center-laden Davao City squad 5-2 in their battle for third in the under-16 meet hosted by the Davao Football Association.
The other awardees were Davao's Clifford Dacera as best midfielder, Dipolog player Bryan Gumelo best defender and Jessie Beatisula of South Cotabato best striker.
Dipolog also took the Chris Monfort Fair Play Award. DFA president Albert Pingoy, tournament director Jojo Rodriguez referees chairman Jimmy Sumugod awarded the prizes to the winners. MS
