Dandan bows out, ends RP campaign in HK
FILIPINO Joshua Kyle Dandan bowed out of contention after losing his quarter-finals match at the Victoria Park Tennis Courts in the ongoing Hirudoid Hong Kong ITF Tournament.
Dandan succumbed to Hong Kong bet Xiao-Peng Lai, seeded No. 2, in a three-set thriller 6-3, 2-6, 5-7 (5) of their boys singles match.
The loss came on the heels of Dandan and partner Davao City-born Ralph Kevin Barte's elimination in the boys doubles event the other day.
Lai then arranged a semi-finals berth with compatriot Joshua Filkenstein. The latter demolished Korean Jei Kyung Kim 6-4, 6-4.
The other semis match pits top-seed Martin Sayer of Hong Kong and No. 3 Anthony Tan of Indonesia.
There were 64 entries entered in the boys singles category of the weeklong competition.
Barte and Dandan planed back to Manila to prepare for two coming international competitions.
They are set to play in the ITF Ministers Cup in Malaysia on Feb. 23 to 29 and in the ITF Jr. Circuit in Brunei on March 1 to 7. MLS
