Laviña wants council to probe house at Bucana mangrove
DAVAO City Councilor Peter Laviña seeks immediate action on the alleged illegal construction of structures in the mangrove area at St. John, Purok 12, Barangay 76-A, Bucana.
This developed after he received complaints from barangay officials of 76-A that a house owned by one Josue Cadiente was illegally constructed at the mangrove area.
Based on the manifestation by the association, headed Rodrigo Roble, for the preservation of mangrove forest in Barangay 76-A, Cadiente was already warned to stop the construction of the houses.
Cadiente reportedly said he is not afraid to face anyone who objects to the house construction as the land is owned by government.
Association members said Cadiente allegedly has group of armed men guarding the area.
Laviña said the matter was already reported to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and photos have been taken to support the complaints. AAG
