Maroon, Red post victories

MAROON, Red and Dark Blue teams notched their third straight wins over the weekend in the 2004 City Hall Employees Sports Club (CHESC) Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at the Almendras Gym.

The Maroons waylaid the Green chargers, 75-53, while the Red squad edged Gray, 73-72. Dark Blue, meanwhile, overwhelmed White, 74-57.

Jonel Avendano scored 14 points to lead scoring for the Maroons while Ivan Estrada topscored with 18 for Red and Jimson Mata lifted Dark Blue with 13.

The Maroons topped bracket A with a clean 3-0 slate followed by 2-1 Sky Blue in second.

Teams Black, Gold, Orange and Green trail behind after toting a 1-2 card each.

In bracket B, Red and Dark Blue share the lead with identical 3-0 records, while Violet, Yellow and White each hold 1-2 marks.

But Team Gray is struggling at the bottom with a 0-3 slate.

The cagefest will resume on Friday.
